KUALA LUMPUR: While Covid-19 vaccines are being distributed for free, three individuals sought to earn a quick buck by selling two doses for RM420. The trio would contact victims randomly and offer them the vaccines for such a price.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said a Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) research officer lodged a police report on the matter recently.
“After an investigation, we conducted raids in Putrajaya and Brickfields on Wednesday.
“We arrested two women and a man aged between 23 and 50,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Six mobile phones and various documents were seized during the raids, he added.
“Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had set RM420 for two doses of vaccines. Payment would only be made once the vaccines were administered,” he said.
Comm Azmi said the CITF confirmed that no approval had been given to any party to sell the vaccines.
“We advise the people not to believe any offers for sale of Covid-19 vaccines.
“Those with information on any party who sells the vaccines must contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or CITF secretariat at 03-8893 4303/4304,” he said.
