THE residents of Taman Permata apartments in Ipoh will form their own working committee and have warned outsiders not to interfere, Makkal Osai reported.

A representative of the residents, K. Ganesan, 34, said there were outsiders who came into the area and announced they were setting up an action committee without consulting them.

He said these outsiders also started a WhatsApp group, supposedly for the action committee, but refused to allow any comments or feedback from the residents.

The residents have filed a police report over the alleged intrusion.

Based on advice from the police, a group of residents has begun collecting signatures from the residents to form a proper committee.

The residents have long worked together with the help of Jelapang assemblyman Cheah Poh Hian to carry out gotong-royong activities, setting up a garbage disposal area and even a food bank to support struggling families.

Residents Parameswari and P. Sumathi said: “We do not need outsiders to come in and impose things on us.”

The above articles are compiled from the vernacular newspapers (Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil dailies). As such, stories are grouped according to the respective language/medium. Where a paragraph begins with a >, it denotes a separate news item.
