A FORMER illegal dumping ground in Klang has been transformed into a community farm with the help of residents and local leaders, Makkal Osai reported.
The area along Jalan Kebun Nenas in Taman Sentosa was an eyesore and a health hazard eight months ago with garbage and debris strewn all over.
The scheme granted 31 low-income residents lots to start farming banana, sweet potato, vegetables, pineapple, pumpkin, brinjal, papaya, sugar cane, serai and moringa for the residents’ use and to be sold.
> The daily also reported that an elderly couple in Madya Pradesh, India, fought off a leopard which tried to drag away their granddaughter.
Basanti Bai Gurjar was woken up at night by the screams of two-year-old Bobby who was being dragged away by the leopard.
Basanti and her husband kicked and punched the leopard which then attacked them until they were rescued by their neighbours.
