PETALING JAYA: National boccia player Chew Wei Lun is just one win away from a historic gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.

The 26-year-old debutant has made it to the individual BC 1 (physical impairment) final after beating Andre Ramos of Portugal 9-5 at the Ariake Gymnasium Centre on Tuesday.

The Johor-born Wei Lun will face reigning Paralympic champion David Smith of Great Britain in tomorrow's final.

Earlier in the quarter-finals, Wei Lun defeated China's Zhang Qi 4-2.

Wei Lun has assured the national contingent its third medal of the campaign after powerlifters Bonnie Bunyau Gustin and Jong Yee Khie delivered a gold and silver.
