PETALING JAYA: The standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various travel destinations have been set, said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (pic).
She cited the recent Langkawi travel bubble as an example where SOPs were implemented specifically for the purpose.
She said that the Langkawi travel bubble was forecast to attract 200,000 local and foreign visitors after its launch on Sept 16.
“We have reached 300,000 and have now exceeded 400,000. The numbers are expected to pass 600,000 later this month,” she said.
Nancy said that the lifting of the ban on interstate travel would pave the way for more international destinations to reopen.
“What we want to see is the mobility of the people which will signify that the tourism sector will be opened in a more liberal manner soon.
“And we are also looking forward to the reopening of international borders after this,” she said at a virtual press conference during the launch of the Travel Safe Alliance (TSA) in Langkawi yesterday.
