       KATO, Hyogo -- Six people including a young girl were injured after falling from the third-story section of a 3D maze attraction at an amusement park here on Oct. 10 when the attraction's floor gave way.

       According to Hyogo Prefecture Police's Kato Police Station, three groups of visitors fell to the second floor of the attraction at Tojoko Omocha Okoku (Lake Tojo Toy Kingdom) in the prefectural city of Kato. At around 2:30 p.m., a male employee at the amusement park alerted police, telling them "the floor of a 3D maze facility collapsed, and multiple visitors were injured."

       Police identified the injured as a 24-year-old man who fractured a hip bone, and his 27-year-old wife who suffered minor injuries; a 27-year-old woman who broke a hip bone and her 27-year-old husband who was mildly injured; and a 38-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter who both had light injuries. The 24-year-old man who fractured a hip bone fell while holding his 1-year-old daughter in his arms, and the daughter sustained no injuries.

       The 3D labyrinth attraction, themed after a castle, is a five-story wooden structure that opened in 2013. The seven visitors, who were on the third floor at the time, are said to have fallen about 2.4 meters to the story below after the wooden floor gave way. A hole with a length of approximately 2.3 meters and a width of about 1 m was apparently found on the third-story floor.

       A representative of the amusement park commented, "We are currently working to uncover what caused the accident and to provide care to the victims. We offer our sincere apologies and condolences to the visitors who were injured." Following the accident, the amusement park decided to temporarily close its doors from Oct. 11 to 14.
