The Queen spends much of her life in the royal spotlight, completing many duties as the nation's sovereign. But in her downtime, the Queen is known to love riding and caring for her many horses. And over her near-seven decade long reign, the Queen has frequently been pictured with the animals at events and at home.

       But it seems the Queen has had to put her horse-riding hobby on hold in recent weeks.

       The Queen has not been horse-riding since her summer break in Balmoral, Scotland, according to The Sun.

       A reported Balmoral source told the publication: “She was in quite a bit of discomfort.

       "She adores riding and it has been part of her ritual for most of her life.

       "She has been extremely disappointed not to go riding since the beginning of September.”

       Although it appears the Queen hasn't been horse-riding for several weeks, it is thought the Queen is keen to get back in the saddle when she is rested.

       In recent weeks, there has been a national concern for the health of Britain's longest-serving monarch.

       The Queen hosted a busy reception at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, October 19, for the Global Investment Summit.

       But Buckingham Palace announced later in the week that the Queen spent an overnight stay at a medical facility the following day.

       The Palace said the admission was for "preliminary investigations" for a non-Covid related reason.

       A statement from the Palace last Thursday said: “Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits."

       In light of medical advice to rest, the Queen cancelled her planned trip to Northern Ireland.

       And earlier this week, Buckingham Palace announced the Queen would not be attending the highly-anticipated COP26 summit in Glasglow on November 1.

       The Queen had been scheduled to attend Monday's evening reception.

       However, the Queen will now appear virtually to address delegates, which will include several world leaders.

       The Palace said: “Her Majesty is disappointed not to attend the reception but will deliver an address to the assembled delegates via a recorded video message."

       In the Queen's absence, four members of the Royal Family will be attending the summit next week.

       Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge are all scheduled to make an appearance.
