KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The creative industry, Internet access and digital economy are among the areas that were given appropriate attention in Budget 2022 tabled at the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 29), says Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic).

The Communications and Multimedia Minister said it was obvious that under the national Budget, no one in Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) was left behind.

"Most of the things announced in Budget 2022 are aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of all members of #KeluargaMalaysia.

"We, in KKMM (Communications and Multimedia Ministry), are very happy when appropriate attention was given specifically to the creative industry, Internet access and digital economy to drive development in Malaysia,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook and Twitter.

The implementation of the national digital network agenda, Jalinan Digital Negara (Jendela), will be intensified next year with the allocation of RM700mil to ensure digital connectivity in 47 industrial areas and 630 schools, especially in rural areas.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz when tabling the budget said the government would also allocate RM30mil for the provision of Internet facilities at 40 existing people’s housing project (PPR) areas to ensure that the residents would not be left behind.

To boost digital adoption among the micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs), Tengku Zafrul said the government will increase the MSMEs Digitalisation Grant Scheme to RM200mil with RM50mil to be specifically allocated for bumiputera micro entrepreneurs in rural areas.-Bernama
