PETALING JAYA: Some 40 pieces of furniture and household appliances belonging to cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat at her house in Jalan Polo Kota Damansara here were auctioned on Tuesday (Dec 14).
Among the assets that were auctioned were sofa sets, dining table sets, bedroom sets, air conditioners, kitchen appliances, washing machines and a grand piano.
This came after the Shah Alam High Court ordered the seizure of assets belonging to Nur Sajat - whose birth name was Muhammad Sajjad Kamarul Zaman.
According to the lawyer from Messrs NHA, Zeti Zukifili, who represents the OWA Resources Sdn Bhd, the bidding process which started at 11am on Tuesday (Dec 14) morning was participated by eight bidders.
Zeti said all eight had bid for household items at a starting price of RM77,650.
However, Zeti added that a bidder managed to bid for all the items at a price of RM132,000.
"Thank God we got a bidder who managed to buy at RM132,000.
"It started at RM75,000 and (the price) went up to RM132,000," Zeti explained to Astro Awani when met at Nur Sajat's residence.
Zeti also said that the bidder who managed to bid for the appliances at the residence was known as Mohamad Syazwan.
"A bidder has to buy all items and not separately," he said, adding that the public auction only involved appliances and not Nur Sajat's house or car.
The Malaysian businesswoman recently relocated to Australia, after being granted asylum there.
She sold off all her business in Malaysia to start life in Australia.
Her move came as Nur Sajat was said to be on the run for the last few months after a blasphemy charge was levelled at her in Malaysia for dressing as a woman.
After reportedly being detained and fined by Thai authorities for having an invalid passport, she was then said to seek refuge through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
