SEREMBAN: Four individuals who were trapped on Gunung Telapak Buruk in Jelebu near here since Saturday (Dec 18) have been rescued by Fire and Rescue Department personnel.

The two Telekom Malaysia employees and two security personnel were brought safely down from the mountain on Wednesday (Dec 18).

A department official said the victims, aged between 28 and 53, had gone up the 1,193m mountain to carry out maintenance work at a transmission station but were trapped there because of heavy rain.

“They could not get down as their path was blocked by fallen trees and other debris.

“We brought them down to SK Pantai (on Wednesday) and from there, the four were airlifted back on our Agusta AW189 chopper,” he said.

The rescue operation started at 8.15am and ended at about 3pm.
