PETALING JAYA: The RM1,000 one-off cash aid for flood victims, or Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI), will only be given to Malaysian heads of households, says the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).
The agency issued a frequently-asked-questions (FAQ) document on its social media channels on Wednesday (Dec 22) to explain details on the BWI and other issues connected to the 2021 North-East Monsoon.
In the FAQ, Nadma clarified that the BWI is for each flood-hit house, even if there is more than one family living there.
Using an example of two families living in one house, the FAQ said that the entire household would on get RM1,000 as only one head of household would qualify for the BWI.
Nadma also said the BWI was only applicable once during the monsoon season.
"The BWI will only be given once during the North-East Monsoon season, even if the household is affected a second or even third time," the FAQ read.
Nadma added that the BWI application was subject to approval by the District Officer as the chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee.
