KUALA LUMPUR: Talk that GE15 will be held soon has given certain individuals the idea that they will be chosen as election candidates, claims a Wanita Umno delegate.

       Datin Noor Hasita Mat Isa, who represented Kedah, said some had already started to "turun kawasan" (visit constituencies).

       "These YB wannabes have been telling local folk that they are candidates. They are even walking like a YB.

       "Although we find this amusing, Wanita Umno is reminding party leaders to give priority to senior leaders in the area when making considerations for election candidates.

       "These leaders have been serving the people and are deserving of the opportunity," she said in her debate at the Wanita Umno meeting on Thursday (March 17).

       Noor Hasita called on party leaders to also consider Wanita members as candidates.

       "Do look out for opportunities for us. We are not just dedicated and loyal but hardworking, capable and qualified too," she said.

       Noor Hasita then put Umno supreme council member Datuk Razlan Raffi on the spot, telling him to support candidacy among Wanita leaders in the general election.

       "Datuk Razlan, don’t just nod your head here and say betul (that is right) when you are here in front of us. You must also agree to this behind us," she said to laughter from the crowd.

       She said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s Malaysian Family concept should be embraced by the party.

       "We should be Keluarga Umno. As family, we look after one another; we will not allow one to fall or to be left behind.

       "As a family, we must be honest with each other, we must be tolerant, considerate and loving.

       "If we have all this, we can withstand any challenges and face our enemies and ensure Umno lives forever," she said.
