A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash that closed the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in the Laurel area Monday evening, according to the U.S. Park Police.
The motorcyclist, a man, was medevaced from the scene with life-threatening injuries after the 6:45 p.m. crash, said Michael Yourishin, a spokesman for the Prince George’s County Fire Department.

The parkway, a major commuter route in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, was shut for between routes 197 and 198, said Sgt. Thomas Twiname, a spokesman for the Park Police.
As of shortly before 9 p.m., Twiname said the southbound Parkway had reopened, but the northbound lanes remained closed.
