JOHOR BARU: Ten people would be summoned by the police to give their statements involving a viral video showing a fleet of supercars stopping at the 34th kilometre stretch of the North-South Expressway near Sedenak.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that the police have identified the registration numbers of the cars involved based on the footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the highway.

“We will record their statements and investigate the matter further based on three main angles. This will include reckless driving and for blocking the road.

“The female driver in the four-wheel drive has also made a police report, claiming that she was hit. We will investigate this as well,” he said, adding that the woman received treatment at a hospital.

He said this in a press conference at the Johor police headquarters here yesterday.

Comm Kamarul said that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for driving recklessly and Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

On Monday, Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the driver of the four-wheel drive that was seen in the video tailing a convoy of supercars before colliding with one had been arrested at about 1am on Monday at the Kulai police headquarters.

On a separate matter, Comm Kamarul said that police seized some RM796,270 worth of drugs in five separate raids between 7pm and 9.40pm around Johor Baru and Kulai on March 19.

“We seized 10.31kg of heroine, 9.93kg of syabu, 107.07kg of cannabis and 422g of magic mushrooms.

“Six men between the ages of 32 and 46 were also arrested during the raids. Four of them tested positive for methamphetamine while three have criminal records related to drugs,” he said, adding that they have been in detention for seven days since Sunday.

He added that the police also seized six cars, some cash and a gun along with bullets, bringing the total value of items seized to RM1.03mil.

The case will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.
