KUALA LUMPUR: PNB Development Sdn Bhd’s unit Seriemas Development Sdn Bhd (SDSB) will sell 0.64 acres of commercial land in Kota Seriemas, Nilai, Negri Sembilan to the licensee of McDonald’s in Malaysia – Gerbang Alaf Restaurants Sdn Bhd.

       SDSB said in a statement that it had signed the sale and purchase agreement with Gerbang Alaf.

       A McDonald’s quick-service restaurant will be set up on the said land in Kota Seriemas which is targeted to open for business in early 2023.

       It will have full dine-in and drive-thru facilities and will be the second McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant in Nilai.

       “This initiative is in line with PNB’s real estate investment strategy and philosophy of partnering with proven catalytic component-enablers for township development. “This strategic move will definitely positively contribute to the entire development of Kota Seriemas,” said Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s (PNB) head of Malaysia real estate Mazuki Abdullah.

       By 2026, McDonald’s is targeting to open 205 new restaurants that will bring the total number of McDonald’s restaurants in Malaysia to 500, according to the statement.Kota Seriemas is a 2,814-acre flagship township of SDSB consisting of residential and commercial components poised to cater to the regional needs for a quality lifestyle.

       It is located mid-way between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban.

       To date there are 2,440 landed and strata homes of various types are nestled within Kota Seriemas.

       SDSB said that as its master developer, it will allow developers to outright purchase its residential and commercial development lands as well as joint-ventures formations moving forward.

       This it said, is in alignment with its goal of fully realising Kota Seriemas’ potential as the preferred address for a quality lifestyle.
