KOTA TINGGI: An attempt to escape with a stolen car has been foiled by the police here after the suspect was stopped at a roadblock.

       Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said that the suspect, a technician in his 40s, was arrested at 10.35pm on Saturday (May 7).

       "The owner of the car was about 20m from where he left the vehicle when he realised it was missing.

       "The suspect was arrested later the same day at a roadblock in front of the Army Combat Training Centre (Pulada) in Kota Tinggi," he said in a statement on Sunday (May 8).

       He added that the suspect, who has a criminal record, also tested positive for drugs.

       "The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft," he said.
