VETERAN Tamil radio broadcaster V. Arumugam was honoured by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan during the launch of his first book, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Arumugam, who turns 75 this year, was with RTM for 35 years. He is well-known among the Indian and Tamil community.
He produced many popular Tamil radio programmes from the 70s - 90s.
His book entitled Ullatthin Ulley (In My Heart) is a compilation of his thoughts on various subjects including the impact of historical events on the community.
The book will serve as a first-hand account of important events for the younger generation, Saravanan, who is also MIC deputy president, said.
> A young woman and her male accomplice were arrested in Tamil Nadu for throwing toilet cleaning acid on another woman in a jealous rage, the daily also reported.
The victim identified as Lekha, 30, reportedly opened her front door after hearing a knock. She was then confronted by Aiswarya, 37, and Thinathayalan, 36.
Aiswarya splashed the acid on the Lekha’s face, with some of it also splattering the victim’s mother. Both survived.
Lekha had apparently dated a man named Parthiban before dating Thinathayalan.
Both relationships failed. Aiswarya, who apparently began dating Parthiban, was unhappy about this.
Aiswarya then plotted with Thinathayalan to attack Lekha. Both were jailed.
