An off-duty Chicago police officer was killed in a car crash in south suburban Tinley Park early Saturday morning, according to Tinley Park police.

       The officer was driving near the intersection of 179th Street and La Grange Road when he was involved in a crash with another car. Both drivers were sent to Silver Cross Hospital.

       The officer was pronounced dead at Silver Cross Hospital, while the other driver, an unidentified man, was determined to be injured. He is currently at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in an unknown condition.

       Southbound lanes on La Grange Road are still closed as Tinley Park police investigate the accident.
