While most travellers are aware of airports such as Barajas (Madrid) and El Prat (Barcelona), most won't have heard of one tiny airport that has made the list of the “most beautiful airports in the world”
A little-known airport in Lleida has been chosen as the most beautiful Spanish airport and is among the best in the world.
The airport was named in the book- "The Art of the Airport: The World's Most Beautiful Terminals", which collated the top 21 airports worldwide.
The top three positions were acquired by WLG Wellington in New Zealand, KIX Kansai in Japan and SZX Shenzhen in China.
Lleida airport, placed in the 14th position, is considered the most beautiful airport in Spain and one of the leading European airports.

Meanwhile, Madrid-Barajas airport is in the fifteenth position in this ranking.
Lleida-Alguaire Airport was opened in 2010 and is located in the municipality of Alguaire, about 15 kilometres north of the city of Lleida.
The airport operates commercial flights, mainly during the winter season, to snowy tourist destinations such as the Pyrenees.
The airport is situated near the town of Alguaire, approximately 15 kilometres (9 miles) north of the city of Lleida in the province of Lleida.

It serves the Lleida region and is intended to boost tourism and economic development in the area.
The airport features a modern terminal building equipped with essential services for passengers, including check-in counters, baggage claim, and a waiting area.
It has a single runway (13/31) measuring 2,500 meters (8,202 feet) in length, capable of handling medium-sized commercial aircraft.
There are parking facilities available for both short-term and long-term stays.
