PASIR MAS (Bernama): Police have arrested a married couple and seized heroin base as well as psychotropic pills worth RM2.095mil from a house at Jalan Pasir Mas-Tanah Merah here.

       Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said the seizure was made following the arrest of a lorry driver by a team from the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Pasir Mas narcotics team here at about 1.20pm on Sunday (Aug 8).

       “No contraband was found on the man, aged 27, who then led police to his house nearby. His 23-year-old wife, a Thai citizen, was in the house.

       “In the house, the man showed police a package containing heroin base weighing 13.295kg, worth RM1.23mil.

       “The police also found 86,000 psychotropic pills worth RM860,000, and seized a car and motorcycle," he told a press conference at Pasir Mas district police headquarters here on Wednesday (Aug 11).

       He said both suspects have been under a seven-day remand order from Sunday for drug trafficking, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction. – Bernama
