A COUPLE whose house in Eastern Garden, Teluk Intan, was in a fire recently has received some much needed aid, Makkal Osai reported.
M. Chandrasekar and his wife A. Vimala were shocked when the second floor of their house caught fire and was destroyed.
While they are currently staying with relatives, they could not afford to repair their house as Chandrasekar is disabled and unable to work. Vimala is the only breadwinner for the family.
MIC vice-president Datuk T. Murugiah, who heard about their plight, met the couple and provided some financial aid for their immediate needs.
He also promised to help them repair their house so they could return home.
> The daily also reported that two men were killed in Sungai Pelek, Selangor, when their car overturned and ended up in a monsoon drain.
Poobalan Sooriakumar, 28, and Sathishkumar Mayakumaran, 29, were reportedly heading to Banting on Saturday morning when they lost control of the vehicle at a bend near Tanjung Rhu Kem Bina Negara.
Their bodies were later retrieved from the overturned car by the Fire and Rescue Department.
