Sir Keir Starmer is facing bizarre calls from his own MPs not to use Britain's national flag on campaign leaflets because it is "associated with the the far-right".
The Labour leader, who came out vocally recently against Nike's decision to alter the Cross of St George on the new England kit, could be facing a revolt over the Union Jack, which represents the whole of the United Kingdom.

The Guardian reports concerns over the flag were raised by the party's Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) group at Westminster during a recent meeting.
An unnamed MP told the paper putting the Union Flag on Labour leaflets would be "detrimental" to securing votes in University towns and in areas with greater ethnic diversity.

They said: “I can see how it would work in some places but it’s definitely detrimental in university towns, and in heavily BAME seats.

Sir Keir Starmer is being told by some members of his own party they don't like the nation's flag (Image: Getty )
“For a lot of communities we are talking about colours that are associated with the National Front or another far-right group."
According to the Guardian "multiple colleagues" of the MP and activists had said they were refusing to distribute the patriotic leaflets in a sign of open revolt against Sir Keir in what will be an election year.
Responding to the report Home Secretary James Cleverly questioned the reasoning of the Labour Party members over their distrust of the national symbol.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, this morning, Mr Cleverly wrote: "Some of Keir Starmer’s MPs don’t like the Union Jack. Why?"
Reform UK's deputy leader Ben Habib also made his views clear on X, writing "this tells you everything you need to know about the hijacking and breaking of our wonderful country". He added Labour "should be ashamed of itself".

The Union Jack, or Union Flag, was adopted in its current form more than 222 years ago and is a proud symbol of the nation on the world stage.
Commenting on Labour MPs and activists not wanting the flag on the party leaflets, one person quipped on X: "Yeah, no reason for a party running in the UK to put the UK flag on its flyer...what is going on?
Another added: "Maybe they'd be happier with the Palestinian flag...?"

The Guardian said a video sent out to activists and organisers said the flag "dominates" the party's election branding, along with "Labour red".
Abdi Duale, a member of Labour's ruling National Executive Committee said: "Britain's strength is in its diversity and our communities are hugely proud of our nation and its flag.
"Labour is running a proudly progressive and patriotic campaign that celebrates all our communities and that includes using our flag."
