KUALA LUMPUR: All 18 PAS lawmakers will support Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the next Prime Minister, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

       The PAS deputy president said the Islamist party will only submit one name to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

       "All 18 PAS MPs will fully support Ismail Sabri and we have signed the statutory declarations," he told reporters after a three-hour meeting at Menara Datuk Onn on Wednesday (Aug 18).

       Asked if there were any conditions set by PAS to support Ismail Sabri, Tuan Ibrahim said they have mutually discussed and decided on the candidate.

       "So there is no issue," he added.

       Members of the Dewan Rakyat have until 4pm Wednesday to submit the name of a nominee they support as the next prime minister of the country.

       On Tuesday (Aug 17), Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun informed all MPs to submit in writing their choice of candidate to Istana Negara via fax, email or WhatsApp.
