KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Banking Group has appointed Oliver Tan as managing director of RHB Insurance Bhd, effective Feb 21, 2022.

       Tan will replace Kong Shu Yin, who is retiring on the same date.

       "Tan brings with him extensive experience in general insurance, both locally and within the region.

       "His appointment as managing director of RHB Insurance Bhd will further enhance the strength of our senior management team, while his knowledge and proven track record will contribute towards further strengthening RHB Insurance's position with the insurance industry," said RHB Banking group principal officer Mohd Rashid Mohamad in a statement.

       According to RHB, Tan has held various senior positions including the CEO posts at MPI Generali Insurans Bhd and Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd in Kuala Lumpur.

       Tan holds a bachelor of laws degree from Staffordshire Polytechnic in the UK and a certificate in legal practice from University of Malaya.

       He has also been a fellow of Malaysia Insurance Institute since 2017.
