TK Maxx shoppers were horrified over a denim jacket for girls was plastered with the words "sex toy" label on the back.

       The department store confirmed the item has since been removed from the West London store and an investigation has been launched.

       A woman published an image of the jacket on Twitter, with dozens quick to slam the piece of clothing.

       In her post, she wrote: "Why would you allow children's clothes like this into your shops?? Have you no procedures in place to prevent this obvious grooming of girls??

       "It was labelled for a Junior!! This was seen and reported to you in your Ealing branch today."

       TK Maxx replied: "We've been made aware of this item and have removed it from sale in the store it was found in.

       "We're getting some further information about the product and conducting an internal investigation."

       Despite the store's prompt action, customers questioned how an item like that could go on sale in the first place.

       One wrote: "There's some serious questions to be asked. How did this make it to the shop floor? It's repulsive."

       Another said on Twitter: "Who the h**l are you employing in your buying teams? This went through multiple approvals before it made it on to the shop floor."

       And a third added: "Whether it's for an adult woman or a child, it's still inappropriate."

       TK Maxx typically offers designer products at up to 60% cheaper than the recommended retail price (RRP).

       'INAPPROPRIATE'

       The chain operates throughout the UK, Australia, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria and the Netherlands.

       This summer, a former TK Maxx employer shared some tips to bag the best bargains.

       Over the past year, TikTok user Hannah Shaw has been revealing the shopping hacks she picked up while working for the brand.

       She said: "Everything in the shop gets reduced every six weeks.

       "And if it's there for 12 weeks, it'll be reduced again until final clearance [which is when] everything goes down to like 20p. It's ridiculous."

       She also said that the newest items can be found in the morning and that top designers are not always advertised.

       Hannah claimed: "Calvin Klein have a partnership with TK Maxx but they're not allowed to advertise it as part of the deal.

       "So if you see [the tagline] 'America's best brands', that's usually Calvin Klein but we use it for other American brands if we couldn't find the right signage for it."

       The Sun Online has approached TK Maxx for comment.
