KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor accused Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and his party of "constructively spreading political untruths" about the state government.

Amid growing talk of an early state election, Hajiji accused Warisan of attempting to portray that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan-led state government is a failure.

"He refused to evaluate what has been done by GRS-PH Plus until now.

"His accusation that we have failed is baseless," said Hajiji, who took over the state government from Shafie after the snap state election in September 2020.

Hajiji claimed more progress had been made under the GRS government than the two years (2018-2020) under Shafie, who he claimed had failed to make any significant changes for the state and its people.

"We (GRS) have made many changes and are successful as a government because we do many programmes for the people," he said at the launch of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) mini-carnival at Alammesra here on Saturday (March 9).

Hajiji admitted he was not as eloquent as Shafie, but said he was sincere in his struggle for the people and the state.

The Chief Minister said that there were more investments in Sabah in the three years of GRS rule and asked Shafie to cite the number of investors that came in during the two-and-a-half year Warisan administration.

He said the GRS government had brought investments into Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip) and Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) is close to full.

"This is due to investor confidence in the current government and for that reason too, the state government plans to open a new oil and gas industrial park in Kimanis and another new industrial park between Kota Belud and Kota Marudu or Kudat," he said.

"Many things are spread on social media against the GRS government. I am confident that the people know the real situation and can judge for themselves," he said.

Hajiji acknowledged problems such as water issues still persisted but the state was working to overcome them as these issues were inherited from previous state administrations.
