Three lanes are closed on the clockwise carriageway following the incident after Junction 15 near Heathrow Airport. Four vehicles, including a lorry, are involved in the crash. It was first reported at 7.07am.
National Highways said on Twitter: “The M25 clockwise between J15 (#HeathrowAirport / #M4) to J16 (#M40),
“Three lanes have been closed due to a collision.
“Please allow extra time for your journey if you are travelling in the area.”
Highways England reported the event is expected to clear between 11.30am and 11.45am.
Traffic data company Inrix has warned motorists congestion caused by the accident stretches back for six miles, with over an hour and a half wait time.
They said: “Three lanes closed, severe delays and queueing traffic for six miles due to accident, four vehicles, including a lorry involved on M25 clockwise after J15 / M4.
“Congestion to J13 A30 (Staines), onlookers anticlockwise back to the Chalfont Viaduct beyond J16 (M40), and the M4 both sides back to Langley and to Heathrow.
“Travel time is one hour 30 minutes.”
