JOHOR BARU: With eight more days till polling day, Barisan Nasional’s candidate for the Penggaram state seat has tested positive for Covid-19.
Ter Hwa Kwong from MCA confirmed that he tested positive after receiving his RT-PCR test on Friday (March 4) morning.
“After learning that I had come into close contact with a Covid-19 individual yesterday, I immediately made the decision to cancel all my scheduled programmes as well as conducted a self-test and went into self-quarantine, so did my team.
“Now that I have been found with the virus, I will stop canvassing the constituency in-person to comply with the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 standard operating procedures,” he said.
Ter, 51, also apologised to all who have been affected, including his loved ones, the campaign team and the public.
He urged those who had come into physical contact with him in the past few days to immediately take a Covid-19 test.
Polling day for the Johor election is on March 12.
