PETALING JAYA: A total of 17 new Covid-19 clusters were reported on Sunday (July 4), with 11 linked to workplaces, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said that five clusters were linked to communities, while one was linked to a high-risk group.
Four workplace clusters were reported in Johor, with the Industri Parit Jamil cluster in Muar recording 127 cases while the Jalan Perindustrian Agas 11 cluster recorded 104 cases.
The Industri Bypass Gebeng cluster in Kuantan, Pahang recorded 52 cases while the Industri Jalan Bangi Lama cluster in Hulu Langat, Selangor recorded 79 cases.
As for community clusters, two were detected in Sarawak and one each in Kelantan, Selangor, and Johor.
The Sungai Entajum cluster in Tatau, Sarawak recorded 41 cases, while the Lorong Empat Sekinchan cluster in several Selangor districts also recorded 41 cases.
The high-risk cluster was the Persiaran Kempas Jernih cluster in Johor Bahru, where 14 infections were reported.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 2,918 clusters have been reported.
There are 869 active clusters, while 2,049 clusters declared ended.
Malaysia recorded 6,045 new cases, bringing the nation's cumulative total to 778,652.
The number of active cases is now 67,669 and of this number, 917 are in intensive care units (ICU), with 443 requiring ventilator support.
There were also another 63 deaths recorded, bringing the country's death toll to 5,497.
One of the deceased was a 13-year-old girl with a history of epilepsy.
