KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno has placed its members on election mode, says its chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.

       She said that a five-point plan has been put in place to ensure that the Wanita machinery is prepared for the national polls.

       “The party’s deputy president has mentioned about the right timing to call for an election. At the same time, the memorandum of understanding signed with the opposition will expire on July 31," said Noraini.

       “Whatever dates are picked for the polls, we in Wanita are ready," she added

       Noraini said that the Wanita wing is confident that the party president and the supreme council would make informed and wise decisions on when the general election should be called.

       GE15 must be held by July 2023 but there have been calls for the polls to be called soon.

       Noraini noted that since Umno and Barisan Nasional’s devastating loss in GE14, it has begun to rebuild itself and this could be seen in the wins recorded in a series of by-elections as well as the Melaka and Johor polls.

       “Based on these successes, we can see that our supporters are in high spirits to face GE15. While we leave it to the wisdom of the party leadership, Wanita wants them to know that we are ever-ready,” she said.
