PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has administered 252,773 doses of Covid-19 vaccines as of Wednesday, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba (pic).
He said in a tweet on his official account that this means that in total 6,554,500 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered.
Dr Adham added that of that number, 4,749,133 people had received their first dose while another 1,805,367 had received both doses.
The five states that have recorded the highest number of people with two doses administered are Selangor at 237,662, followed by Johor (192,501), Sarawak (189,280), Perak (165,932) and Kuala Lumpur (157,393).
Dr Adham announced on Wednesday that Malaysia had reached another milestone in the vaccine rollout as it crossed the 250,000 daily dose mark on Tuesday, with 250,529 doses.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun as saying that nearly 19,000 persons with disabilities nationwide have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine so far.
She said almost 280,000 people in this group had registered for the vaccination under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
“This shows an increase and this figure will increase from time to time. We will continue to give priority to the disabled to get vaccinated so that the country will achieve 80% herd immunity,” she told reporters after visiting the mobile vaccination centre for the disabled at Selangor Cheshire Home yesterday.
Rina explained that the vaccination for the disabled not only involves institutions under the Social Welfare Department, but also private care homes and those run by NGOs.
At Selangor Cheshire Home yesterday, 25 persons with disabilities and 44 staff members received their first dose of vaccine.
