THE ex-fiance of cosmetics millionaire Datuk Seri Vida left Malaysia in November to live in Indonesia after becoming a victim of cyberbullying, reported Kosmo!.
Ahmad Iqbal Zulkefli said he decided to leave as he was upset, insulted and hurt by the online taunts.
Ahmad Iqbal, who is back in Malaysia, said the taunts began with his intended marriage to Vida which was called off and extended to his attempts to become a singer.
Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, had previously sparked wedding rumours with Ahmad Iqbal, who was her assistant, but this was called off later.
Ahmad Iqbal insisted that the planned nuptials were not a gimmick or content marketing strategy.
“That is reality. I took her to see my mother in my hometown. I was slandered to the extent of being accused of being ‘crazy’ about people’s property,” he said.
Asked why he was interested in marrying the 51-year-old entrepreneur at the time, Ahmad Iqbal described Vida as a woman who is easy to talk to.
“I can’t like someone who is the same age or younger than me because it feels awkward to talk to them about the future,” he said, adding that this was now all in the past and that he had even blocked Vida on all his social media platforms, including WhatsApp.
“I don’t have a grudge against her. I told her that I would be there for her if she is in trouble. Just for now, give me time because I’m tired,” he said.
