A guest on GB News skewered Rachel Reeves after the Asda boss called on the Chancellor to "stop taxing everything". Nick Dixon didn't hold back when he appeared on the news programme to have his say on her tax policies, calling her "desperate" and saying she is "rinsing every last drop from the British economy". It comes after Asda's chairman publicly criticised the Chancellor's tax policies and warned of their terrible impact on businesses and families. Allan Leighton launched the furious rant as reports mount that Ms Reeves is planning another round of devastating tax hikes.
Leighton claimed the Chancellor was "taxing everything in some way, shape or form," insisting that surging costs are being passed straight onto struggling individuals. The row comes as Asda announces new stores and publishes a list of 22 locations.

"There's no doubt all of this is hitting the pocket of the consumer. And when that happens, that's not particularly good for anybody," he said.
Leighton was recently chairman of The Co-operative Group, which sponsors 41 Labour MPs, so this will come as negative news for Keir Starmer and his Government.
One person watching the programme reacted in the comments section saying: "She won’t stop taxing everything, unfortunately. It’s the only move in her playbook and she’ll do it over and over again."

The politician spoke to Steven and Ellie Costello about why he was boycotting the event, arguing that Donald Trump has the power to end the conflict in Gaza but has opted for inaction despite saying he regrets the killings.
Davey said: "He says that he regrets the killings.' I'm afraid when I've listened to Donald Trump talk about this - it's the reverse. He does nothing about it. I've always been pro-American. I've always seen them as our strongest ally. My chance at this moment is to send this message by not going to the banquet, and we can debate it as a country."
Davey also said it went against his "instincts" to decline an invitation from the King, describing the invitation as an "honour." President Trump and his wife will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla for their second state visit from 17 to 19 September.
