Lahore’s PHA doubles NOC fee for housing societies

       LAHORE: The Lahore’s Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has approved increasing the no objection certificate (NOC) fee for housing societies from Rs50,000 to Rs100,000 per kanal.

       The decision was made during a PHA’s 27th board of directors (BoD) meeting held here on Friday.

       The societies will also be required to plant at least two trees for every 10-marla and four for one-kanal plot.

       According to a spokesperson, the BoD approved a series of administrative, regulatory and policy decisions, ratifying the minutes of its 26th meeting and reviewed proposed amendments to the service regulations for sports and, mechanical and electrical supervisors.

       The meeting was presided over by BoD Chairman Ghazali Saleem Butt. The meeting approved creation of two new positions — Additional Director General (Resources) and Director (Resources & Audit) and the establishment of a legal performance review committee.

       The board accorded approval to a PHA’s MoU with the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department for staff medical coverage. Under the MoU, PHA would be responsible for maintaining green areas in hospitals, while hospitals would provide its employees with quality healthcare at discounted rates. The board also approved medical service providers registration policy, modeled on the Lahore Development Authority framework.

       For outdoor advertising, the board endorsed the 2025–26 rates, including a 10% increase in static ads and a reduction in digital advertising rates to promote digital media.

       A committee was also formed to review the reduction of entry/exit passage development rates. In the sports sector, five sports grounds will remain under the control of the Pakistan Cricket Board for sports promotion, while the auction of 16 other grounds under PHA was proposed. Approval was also granted for the purchase of a hydro seeder mulching machine, a 10 per cent increase in park booking rates, and the adoption of the “Adopt-a-Park” corporate social responsibility policy.

       Moreover, the participants approved the lease policy period to 10+10 years, and it was decided that regular and contractual staff salaries would be paid by the first of each month.

       OPERATION: In an anti-power theft operation at Burj Attari village on Friday, a team of Lesco and law enforcement agencies detected 26 premises for stealing electricity from direct lines.

       The team arrested six people besides imposing heavy fines on them, according to a press release.

       VISIT: During a detailed visit to Tehsil City, the Lahore DC accompanied by Metropolitan Corporation Chief Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner General and Assistant Commissioner City reviewed cleanliness and municipal service operations.

       DC Raza inspected Circular Road and its surroundings, issuing clear directives to ensure road patchwork was completed efficiently without inconveniencing residents.

       He also ordered for immediate removal of banners, posters, and other sources of visual pollution to enhance the city’s appearance.

       Emphasising the administration’s core duty, the DC stated that delivering top-quality municipal services to citizens was a priority.
