JOHOR BARU: Targeted Covid-19 mass screening will be boosted in the state as there is a spike in new cases lately, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.
He said the move would allow for faster action to curb the spread of Covid-19, such as putting those who have been found to be positive under quarantine.
“One of our efforts is to speed up targeted screenings. While waiting for more vaccines to arrive in Johor, we need to do more testing and isolate those found to be positive,” he said after presenting Jalur Gemilang flags to road users here yesterday.
Hasni said among the factors causing the recent spike was workers’ dormitories.
He added that several locations in Johor were placed under the enhanced movement control order, including two Orang Asli villages in Kuala Masai here and Simpang Arang near Gelang Patah.
He also said the state government would continue to work hard to make sure people in the state would get their vaccination, adding that Johor would be receiving two million doses within this month.
Hasni said the state had enough vaccination centres (PPV) currently operating, including industrial PPV, which were able to dispense about 70,000 doses per day.
“We will make sure that the state would continue to get about 490,000 doses of vaccines weekly on schedule,” he said.
