HAVANA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Cuba registered 118 new COVID-19 cases and zero related deaths in the past 24 hours, raising its total number of confirmed cases to 1,103,606 and maintaining the death toll at 8,527, the Public Health Ministry said Thursday.
In its daily pandemic report, the ministry said there are currently 603 active cases of the disease in the country, the lowest figure of the year.
The highest number of new daily cases was reported in the western province of Havana, with 24, followed by central Camaguey, with 21, and western Pinar del Rio, with 12.
Some 9.9 million of Cuba's total population of 11.2 million have been fully vaccinated with triple-dose vaccines against COVID-19, and a little more than 6.7 million have received a booster shot.
