At ￡250,000, the double spot in Knightsbridge, west London, costs more than some detached four-bed houses in places such as Hull and Blackburn. But measuring 34sq ft in gated Basil Street car park means top-range cars just won't fit.

       It will also cost the new owner an annual ￡780 service charge over the 82-year lease.

       Built 20 years ago, the site has a lift and 24-hour guards and is two levels underground.

       At 13ft 9in the space for sale comes in at shorter than the average parking spot which is 15ft 8in long.

       A ￡364,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom is more than 19ft long. And a ￡270,000 Lamborghini Aventador ？ popular with the Knightsbridge set ？ would be too snug a fit.

       A longer but narrower parking spot in the same building, marketed by Harrods Estates, sold for ￡250,000 in 2016.
