GEORGE TOWN: The power outage at the Penang Bridge that caused traffic congestion on Friday (Oct 1) night is still being investigated.
PLUS Malaysia Bhd's strategic stakeholder engagement head Syed Mohammed Idid said work to restore the power to the bridge is ongoing.
"We truly apologise for the inconvenience caused by the power failure and are working to rectify and resolve the situation soonest.
"We seek patience and understanding as we work towards restoring the power back to the bridge and toll plaza as quickly as possible," he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 2).
Confirming the a power failure at the bridge and its surrounding areas, Syed Mohammed said all lanes at the bridge are functioning as normal and was under control.
He assured that the progress of the restoration would be updated regularly.
He advised those travelling on the bridge to drive safely and carefully as well as to maintain a safe distance from the car in front.
He said updates on the traffic situationcan be obtained via PLUS Traffic on Twitter or the PLUS app.
The power outage at Penang Bridge has caused a massive traffic congestion up to Seberang Jaya and Prai Industrial area exit.
The incident which started about 8.30pm on Friday (Oct 1) also affected the surrounding areas on the mainland and island.
