Unhealthy API readings in Klang Valley, good to moderate in rest of country

       PETALING JAYA: Unhealthy air levels have been detected in three areas in the Klang Valley.

       According to data from the Environment Department's Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims), unhealthy Air Pollutant Index readings were detected at 3pm on Wednesday (April 10) in Cheras (154), Klang (138) and Banting (157).

       API readings in Klang were hovering at unhealthy levels throughout the day from 151 to 153 but went down to 138 at 3pm.

       Cheras had an unhealthy API reading of 101 at 7pm on Tuesday (April 9), which has continued to worsen and is at 154 at 3pm on Wednesday.

       Banting's API reading has remained unhealthy and is at 157 at 3pm on Wednesday, reaching a peak of 161 the night before.

       In Petaling Jaya API, levels are moderate but went above 90 since 1am and is currently at 94 as of 3pm on Wednesday.

       The air quality in Johan Setia has remained just under the unhealthy level, reaching a peak of 97 at 5am and 93 at 3pm on Wednesday.

       In other parts of the country, moderate API readings were recorded at 48 stations and good API readings at 17 stations at 3pm Wednesday.

       API readings of between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, while 51 to 100 are moderate.

       Readings of 101 to 200 are categorised as unhealthy, while readings of 201 to 300 are considered very unhealthy.

       Air quality readings of 300 and above are categorised as hazardous.
