JOHOR BARU: Johor police will approach their Singapore counterparts to investigate threats made agaoinst MCA's deputy national public complaints and service bureau chief Chua Jian Boon.

       Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said this was because a phone number and bank account involved in the case was from Singapore.

       "Many have asked why it is taking so long to resolve but this is not a straightforward case.

       "The culprits are organised and detailed, including using fake vehicle registration numbers which complicates investigations.

       "The phone and bank account number involved in the case are also from Singapore and we need to get help from them to investigate further," he said in a press conference at the state police headquarters here on Sunday (Oct 10).

       He said this when asked about developments in Chua's case who had received threats and his house was splashed with red paint.

       On Saturday (Oct 9), MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said he believed the state police chief would look into the case.

       "What Chua is doing is helping those who facing troubles because of these loan sharks and other cases," said Dr Wee, who is also MCA president.

       On Thursday (Oct 7), Chua's family house in Kulai was splashed with red paint.

       The culprits also left a warning in front of the house.

       On Friday (Oct 8), Comm Ayob confirmed a police report had been made on and the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damage through acts of mischief.

       The police had also set up a task force to identify those involved.
