International reserves up to US$111.3bil

       KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara’s (pic) international reserves rose to US$111.3bil (RM472bil) as at Aug 13, 2021 from US$111.1bil (RM471.1bil) as at July 30, 2021.

       In a statement, the central bank said the reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.9 months of retained imports and is 1.2 times total short-term external debt.

       It said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$102.3bil or RM434bil), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.4bil or RM5.9bil), special drawing rights or SDRs (US$1.2bil or RM5.1bil), gold (US$2.2bil or RM9.3bil), and other reserve assets (US$4.2bil or RM17.8bil).

       Assets comprising gold, foreign exchange and other reserves, including SDRs, amounted to RM462.65bil, Malaysian government papers (RM11.22bil), deposits with financial institutions (RM727.36mil), loans and advances (RM20.35bil), land and buildings (RM4.16bil) and other assets (RM15.79bil).

       Capital and liabilities comprising paid-up capital amounted to RM100mil, reserves (RM184.86bil), currency in circulation (RM143.72bil), deposits by financial institutions (RM138.77bil), federal government deposits (RM20.11bil), other deposits (RM5.86bil), Bank Negara papers (RM8.50bil), allocation of SDRs (RM7.98bil) and other liabilities (RM5bil). — Bernama
