       KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: MP Saleh Zeib Al-Mutairi has emphasized the need to cancel the decision on the weekly PCR test for students and teachers, including those who have been vaccinated; as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus once the schools reopen in the next academic year. He said this decision will only add to the burdens of health practitioners who are already swamped with work as the country continues to fight against the virus. He argued there is no justification for requiring the students and teachers to undergo a PCR test weekly; reiterating the need to cancel the decision and focus on ensuring commitment to health regulations such as social distancing and wearing masks among others. In addition, MP Ahmad Mutei Al-Azmi criticized the decision of health authorities to obligate arriving citizens to submit PCR test result even if they are already vaccinated. He asserted some countries are taking advantage of such an unwise decision to extend the stay of Kuwaitis in their territories; thereby, reaping more touristic benefits.

       Meanwhile, MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa forwarded queries to Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali about the complaints he received from Kuwaiti students in Alexandria, Egypt who are encountering problems in returning home because of the suspension of direct fl ights between Kuwait and Egypt. He pointed out these students have to pay almost KD500 for transit plane tickets, wondering why not instruct Kuwait Airways Corporation to arrange fl ights for Kuwaiti students in Egypt. He then asked if there is a plan to resume direct fl ights soon. If yes, he wants to know when these fl ights will resume. MP Hesham Al-Saleh submitted questions to Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Essa Al-Salman about the legal basis for instructing the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) to conduct a study on suspending the national labor subsidy for Kuwaitis working in the private sector who are receiving a salary of KD3,000 and above.By Saeed Mahmoud Saleh Arab Times Staff
