KUCHING: Voter turnout for the Sarawak State Election is 55% at 4pm, says the Election Commission.

       With polling closed at 5pm, it appears unlikely that voter turnout will reach 60%.

       It has been raining heavily in many places across the state, possibly contributing to the low turnout.

       EC had earlier targeted a 70% turnout.

       The 11th Sarawak State Election in 2016 saw a voter turnout of 70.1%.
