KUALA LUMPUR: Budget 2022, the largest in the nation’s history, has been passed by Dewan Rakyat.
The budget, totalling RM332.5bil, was passed through a voice vote after it was tabled and read for the third time by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun then announced to the House that the budget had been passed by a majority voice vote.
More than 100 MPs participated during the 24 days of debate with replies coming from 27 ministries.
Of the total, RM236.5bil will be channelled to operating expenditure, RM69bil to development expenditure and RM17bil to the Covid-19 Fund.
The Budget, tabled by Tengku Zafrul on Oct 29, was the first budget since the Perikatan Nasional administration came into power in August this year.
