OVER 20,000 families in Chaah town in Segamat, Johor, have only one ATM to use, making banking transactions very difficult, reported Makkal Osai.

A local resident, identified only as Saavithri, said the single ATM was in high demand as the next nearest machines were some 25km away in Yong Peng, Labis and Bekok.

He complained that residents had to queue for hours at times to use the ATM while those with accounts in other banks had no choice but to pay the RM1 in transaction fees.

Residents urged other banks to set up more ATMs in the area.

       > The daily also reported the Indian Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Association of Selangor and Federal Territory had urged the government to loosen the standard operating procedures to allow them to operate.

Its president Ganatheeban Murugan said their members were struggling to survive as Covid-19 movement restrictions continued.

He said members were able to strictly follow the SOP during the previous restrictions and were willing do so again if allowed to reopen.
