KOTA KINABALU: People in Sabah must continue to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) even after the state moves into Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Monday (Nov 8), says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
Masidi – who is Sabah's Covid-19 spokesman – said that a new cluster was detected in Kampung Karanaan, Ranau on Sunday (Nov 7), where 52 villagers were infected with Covid-19 following three events in the area.
“The risk of transmission in public places and social activities will increase. We must not be complacent. The relaxation of restrictions means the people have a duty as ‘frontliners’ themselves to curb the further spread of Covid-19." he said.
Sabah registered 405 cases on Sunday, a significant drop of 164 cases compared to 569 recorded on Saturday (Nov 6).
Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of daily cases at 52.
“Today’s daily cases in Sabah is among the lowest in a few months. Besides Kota Kinabalu, the rest of the districts state-wide recorded fewer than 50 new cases,” said Masidi.
He added that the positive impact of vaccinations can be seen as out of Sunday’s cases, 96% or 387 infected people are under Category 1 and 2 as they have no symptoms or mild symptoms.
