KOTA KINABALU: Security forces and healthcare workers are among those who played important roles in facilitating the state government to smoothly implement development plans and policies, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The Sabah Chief Minister said he attributed the peace enjoyed by citizens of the country to the commitment of security forces and the dedication of health frontliners in combating Covid-19.

“They have undoubtedly played important roles in helping the nation realise its vision of making Malaysia a progressive country and Sabah, a prosperous state,” Hajiji said.

He said this after handing out Raya goodies to the Sabah Health Department and the various security agencies on Wednesday (April 13).

A total of 672 boxes were contributed by various agencies, including government-linked companies and the state government.

"The peace that we are currently enjoying has enabled the nation to continue moving forward,” Hajiji said.

"In the context of the nation's border reopening on April 1, a peaceful Malaysia is instrumental to help gain investors' confidence as well as attract foreign tourists to our country," he added.

He said the government and the people owe much to these frontliners for their contribution and sacrifices.

"Also not forgotten are the healthcare workers, doctors, nurses and paramedics who have worked tirelessly, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic,” Hajiji said.

"On behalf of the state government, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for the services and sacrifices of our men and women in the security force as well as health frontliners," he said.

Also present during the event were State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, State Federal Secretary Datuk Sarul Bahiyah Abu, State Public Service Department director-general Datuk Rosmadi Sulai, State Health director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin, security chiefs and senior officials including Deputy Sabah Commissioner of Police Datuk Jauteh Dikun, Malaysia Infantry Fifth Division Commander Major General Datuk Mohd Halim Khalid and Labuan Maritime director Rear Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah.
