The body of Sabina, 28, was found in Cator Park, Kidbrooke, in south-east London, close to where she lived, on September 18. The evening before, she had been on her way to meet a friend at The Depot, a bar in Kidbrooke Village, when she vanished.

Members of her family sat just feet away from garage worker Selamaj as his lawyer said he accepted responsibility for Sabina's death.

Mr Justice Wall asked Aidan Harvey, defending: "Is there any dispute your client killed Ms Nessa?" Mr Harvey replied: "There is not, my Lord. He accepts he killed her."

Sabina died after she was repeatedly beaten over the head with a 2ft length of wood, the Old Bailey heard.

The weapon broke in the attacker's hands, said Alison Morgan, QC, prosecuting.

Ms Morgan told Mr Justice Wall the attack was filmed by a CCTV camera in the park. Sabina's body was discovered partially covered with grass the following day.

Detectives later arrested Selamaj, an Albanian national, at his home in Eastbourne, East Sussex, on September 26. Police inquiries confirmed he and Sabina did not know each other.
