KUALA LUMPUR: The whereabouts of Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, are unknown and there is no new information on the fugitive’s status, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin. He said the Home Ministry remained committed to bringing Low back to face justice, adding that Singapore and the United States had already filed charges against him.

“There was also an Interpol Red Notice issued in 2018.

“The Interpol is made up of 194 member countries and until today (Nov 16), there hasn’t been any information received by Malaysia, Singapore, the US and Interpol member countries regarding the whereabouts of Low,” he said.

He noted that former inspector- general of police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador had said police believed Low was in China, but the Chinese Embassy had denied this.

“The Chinese Embassy denied that Low was seeking refuge in Beijing. The issue here is that we don’t know Low’s exact whereabouts,” he said during his winding-up speech on Budget 2022 in Parliament yesterday.

Low, who is wanted over his involvement in the 1MDB scandal, has denied any wrongdoing.
