KULAI: An eatery assistant, who was recorded on CCTV throwing a decorative statue into a dustbin, was fined RM2,500 in default three months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here.
Magistrate Sharifah Maleeha Syed Hussin meted out the fine on Gabriele Jungkak anak Steward, 23, who pleaded guilty to the charge, reported Bernama.
He was charged with removing the decorative statue belonging to TS Dineshwaran and throwing it into the dustbin, causing losses of RM25, in front of a house in Taman Scientex 13, Senai, at 9am on May 15.Deputy public prosecutor Edelynn Wong prosecuted.
Earlier, it was reported that the police were looking for a man caught on camera dumping a decorative statue into a rubbish bin.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the police received a report on the incident from the statue’s owner at 4.30pm on May 15.

“The incident was believed to have taken place at about 9am on the same day in front of the complainant’s house in Taman Scientex.
“According to the complainant, the statue was placed in the front yard of his house for decorative purposes,” he said in a statement.
Supt Tok said the police took the copy of the CCTV recording for further investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
Offenders who are found guilty can be sentenced to up to two years in jail or fined, or both, he had said.
The 42-second video depicting the act was uploaded on Facebook by a user and widely shared.
